Steering Committee

Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer’s Disease International, Age International and Dementia Alliance International form the GADAA Steering Committee.

Dementia Alliance International

Dementia Alliance International logoDementia Alliance International (DAI) is a collaboration of like-minded individuals diagnosed with dementia providing a unified voice of strength, advocacy, and support in the fight for individual autonomy for people with dementia. DAI was established in January 2014 to promote education and awareness about dementia – in order to eradicate stigma and discrimination – and to improve the quality of the lives of people with dementia. The aim is to bring the community composed of those with dementia together as one strong voice to urge the government, private sector, and medical professionals to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global crisis. It is our firm belief that working together, we will identify concrete action for implementation with the international community, and in the process, ensure our human rights are being fully met.

Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity, here for anyone affected by any form of dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Alzheimer’s Society  provides information and practical and emotional support to help people live well with dementia, and invests in world-class research with the ultimate goal of defeating it. Alzheimer’s Society also campaigns to improve public understanding of dementia and the devastating impact it can have, and make sure it’s taken seriously and acted on by our governments.

Alzheimer’s Disease International

Alzheimers Disease International logoADI is the international federation of 85 Alzheimer associations around the world, in official relations with the World Health Organization. ADI’s vision is an improved quality of life for people with dementia and their families throughout the world. ADI believes that the key to winning the fight against dementia lies in a unique combination of global solutions and local knowledge. As such, it works locally, by empowering Alzheimer associations to promote and offer care and support for people with dementia and their carers, while working globally to focus attention on dementia and campaign for policy change from governments.

Age International

Age International logoAge International exists to change the world for older people; by helping those living in poverty in developing countries to have a better quality of life. At Age International, we challenge the stereotype that labels older people as a burden. But we also recognise that later life can be a time of increased vulnerability. That’s why our work supports some of the most vulnerable older people in the world; we help older people in over 30 of the world’s poorest countries with age-friendly emergency relief and long-term development.
